Christoffer Munch Andersen, born in 1979, was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 2001 – 2007.
An emerging artist Christoffer Munch Andersen is among one of the primary exponents of a new figurative painting on the young Scandinavian art scene. He has already been a part of a number of group shows, and had his first solo exhibition already in 2006. His paintings are both highly detailed and colourful. Depicting everyday objects such as garbage, food containers and other low-culture objects all refined and trimmed in the photorealistic painting. An example of this is the meticulously painted series featuring the bottoms of Tetra Pak packing and pizza boxes and foil wrapped pack lunches as subject. The focus on the works becoming the acquired stains and ridges in the cardboard. The way his images, confront the viewer is often face on, framing a single object which becomes the subject in the painting. Questioning whether everyday objects can be seen in a different light, and so opening up new lines of thought.
