Born in 1968 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Emil Salto studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 1994 – 2000.
An artist whos practice spans photography, collages, objects, and installation. The work although non-media specific, is similar in its aesthetic, often featuring flattened dimensions, simple forms and geometric shapes in tones of grey, and white and black. In his more recent works he has created photographic images, using light to paint and fix the image onto the paper instead of a camera. The intended experience of the work is of the process, the elasticity of time, or "elastic time", a kind of diffuse time-space that establishes the work, examining in particular the relationship between the tangible and the intangible in the works. The intention of his work in a sense can come out of the everyday function of split time experience and extend into a phenomenological experience of time. It is important that the works appear as images and objects, devoid of other meanings than their origin.
