Born in 1971 in Lund, Sweden, Kristofer Hultenberg attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 1993 –1999 and with a stint at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Stockholm, Sweden in 1997. Hultenberg’s practice is dominated by painted and drawn imagery. Of his work he writes:
I find remote, "pointless" ideas that are incapable of explaining or justifying themselves particularly interesting and useful. I like to bring them out, to lift them from the great, turbid mass of ideas, in order to keep company with them - to employ them as a kind of mental environments that remind me of the infinite options you have as an artist and as a human being. What I really love is to articulate them: to present them to the world around me, couched in the rational and concise idiom usually associated with truly substantial information – which they really cannot support. I am interested in the imbalance in this. When the brain's most elusive suggestions invade our common reality seeking to gain a solid form, this is a process that reflects the profusion of possibilities and life's unlimited potential.
