Born in 1981, Lea Porsager is a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, from 2004 – with expected Exit in 2010. She also attended the Städelschule in Frankfurt from 2008 – 2009.

In 2008 she was awarded the Montana Enter-Prize by a jury of international curators. As an artist Lea Porsager works with photography, text, and film as well as performance. The focus, not being on the documentary possibilities of the medium, but rather its potential for creating an expanded field of reference, where the image serves as a vessel for that which is hidden or that which is no more. The image, which remains, becomes merely an imprint of an event, a residue of a happening, a mediator between the world of the manifested and the obscure. Comparable to, the notion of a blackboard wiped clean: traces of chalk the only evidence of the act. A multitude of Lea Porsager’s projects serve as a continuing reference to notions of a doppelgänger, hypnotic imagery and the self, the I, L.P, “The Mist of LP should be seen as illusions or signs – essential to future questions and ideas that have not yet been conceived, but in this moment actually exist.” These correspondences unfold as strategies, and like stipulations in a fictional space, they merge with reality – often manifesting themselves as physical actions.
