Born 1980, Denmark. Studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 2003 – 2009.
A mixed media artist, his practice is an assortment of painting, sculptural works, light installations, and sound art. A central theme in his work is dynamic between the passive and the active, but not as opposites, Skrøder’s experience of artworks are as passive, he works painterly with painting, with an awareness that the image can be come covered and still remain present. Sometimes during this process a painting becomes a sculpture. The artists interest lies in the fact that although the volume of the work grows, the content stays flat. In his practice, Skrøder is also interested in passive-active relationship between the materials. How things offset and amplify each other's meanings. In his work with sound his relationship to amplification is more strongly linked to the media - to amplify something non-physical-spatial (sound), with a machine that is physically in the space. Hence the emergence of his interest in organizing and composing material, consciously, creating a space for a more abstract meeting of the ethereal and the actual. The similarity is in the thought, not in aesthetic likeness, the relationship to the material physical and concrete.
