Bjørn Poulsen presents an array of new sculptures in the exhibition Indefra – Udefra, which, push the boundaries, to get to the core. They represent the regeneration of classical sculptural values such as mass, body and core. Executed, by presenting and undermining the same values. Presented, in terms of the objects shape, and undermined by the construction of the object a combination of readymade materials such as pre-fabricated plastic and metal and iconic objects (model toy sets).
As with earlier works, the sculptures are primarily abstract in the visual language, however newer works contain more of a narrative with titles such as “Trofæ” (Trophy) and “Skjold” (Shield).
The shape of the sculptures create an inhabiting expansive force, explosive almost, whilst the physicality of the sculptures draw attention to the breaks and seams in the work, the put together and fragmented. The feelings and thoughts expressed are complex and conflicting, like entities, balancing on the brink of chaos.
The exhibition features sculptures in all of sizes, stood on the floor, hung from the ceiling and suspended between the walls. The gallery space completely energy filled, compact and complex. The exhibiting room essentially becomes like the sculptures contained within it.
