LOST NAVIGATION

Jes Fomsgaard’s interest in diagrammatical imagery, has been realized with the use of various map-making and graphical terms. In the "explosion drawings" building structures are mapped out or charted - and anatomical urban spaces, dissected. LOST NAVIGATION is the non-functional cartographic map. Unlike GPS, displaying the simplest possible routes from A to B, these are imaginary - or virtual maps. Map-making is also the discovery of the unknown or the description of the unexplored. It is to make the undiscovered accessible and offer new individual traversable routes. To "get lost" or lose orientation, can be fatal - but can also lead to a fresh aesthetic territory, where new imaginary worlds can be traced or mapped out. There is a fascination with the fatal, the prospect of the loss of control - Lost Navigation.
