"CURTAINS"
MAY 20. - JUNE 24. / 2009
The primary material in Pernille Egeskov’s work is fabric. She gets her immediate inspiration from old leftover needlework that women – young as old – had in their hands as a natural part of being a woman.
The work is produced with techniques of collage in all imaginable fabrics and embroidery.
It is an intuitive process in which coincidences in the textiles such as a stained tablecloth, crooked sewn handkerchiefs from the twenties, soil found pillowcases, etc. creates the immediate basis to work with composition.
The goal is to make a poetic abstraction.
In the series of ‘Curtains’ the theme is “What lies behind the curtain…”. It is a poetic expression of energies surrounding a human being, in solitude or in relation to others.
